INTERNAL BATTLES

Mike

I’ve had a hard time writing anything this past month because my mind has been kicking my ass. I spent three months typing up the 7-challenge self-rehabilitation project I created for prisoners. The project’s main purpose is for prisoners to eliminate excuses and take control of their future.

It gives them something productive to do with their time, while simultaneously increasing their chances for success upon release. It also helps reduce the desperation prisoners will experience when released and reduces future crimes being committed.

It protects innocent people being hurt by the “new members of society” with no hope, no plan, and no direction in life. People who have nothing to lose or have nothing, they don’t care who they harm as long as they get what they want or need. I live in a world surrounded by people with that mindset on a daily basis.

My point is, it’s frustrating knowing you can help people on a larger scale quickly, but can’t. I have to be grateful for the few others around me who share my mindset and for the limited opportunities we have to help one another stay focused on a real life, in the real world.

I’ve grown to love, cherish, and crave honesty. When you’re surrounded by so much deceit and so often, you despise it. It truly makes you sick. Almost everyone has an angle or reason for the mask they choose to wear and appear to live the facade they do. To the “real” people who are honest about the future they want by showing it with actions, thank you.

TO ALL READERS – EXPLANATION & CLARIFICATION

I have received some valuable input concerning the length of some (I’ll keep it real – MOST) of the posts. I couldn’t agree more in the fact that it’s better to post less more often. I don’t want anyone thinking I’m not taking heed to their advice. I have limited opportunities to get to a JPay kiosk to send emails out and I’m dependent on the help of others to post them. It’s quite an adventure to get one of these posts up for you to read.

I remember the days when I could simply put an email or a text together and send it. I never once considered the time or effort people put into creating the content they send electronically. Just keep in mind I have a lot to say and limited opportunities to say it.

Once it’s said, I have to schedule time with others to actually post it. The average length of time to get one single post up is about 10 days – 2 weeks! I’m NOT complaining, just explaining! I always say, “if you don’t like something about prison, don’t come here!”

Since the inception of this project, I’ve spread out over two different platforms. The content on both is currently a copy of the other—maybe a slightly different version for social media, or reads a little different (due to editing challenges) than the other.

My current focus is to have each platform better serve their individual goals. I’m working hard to improve the experiences on both. I’ve added a third group project that supports self-rehabilitation efforts. I hope you’ll check it out too. I don’t want to lose support because of repetition or confusion!

Below are the platforms, purpose, and addresses. I hope you will continue to support the efforts of each one individually. Moving forward there will be different content on each one so don’t miss out by focusing on just one. If you have a favorite and just stick to that, I thank you all the same!

www.badboymikesblog.com – Create an account, sign in, and you can post. But please, follow my blog. This platform will house everything, especially the longer content. It will dive deep into the mindset of many problems & solutions faced by anyone inside prison or out.

www.inteliboom.com – All of the programs and courses are there.  They can be downloaded for free.

Look forward to reading less more often about daily prison life too. You need to visit the actual website for yourself to see all it offers. Having never seen it myself, it’s kind of hard for me to explain. This is our founding project and I’m extremely grateful for this platform. Thanks Dad!

Bad Boy Mike Facebook page – Choose to follow this page. This platform will target the actions being taken to implement the self-rehabilitation project and improve communications with its followers. It will include mental health topics and navigating those challenges. Anything goes here, so you never know what might pop up! We will also post short “blog style” content about daily prison life as well. We also follow other like-minded people, projects, and organizations. Thanks Chase!

Bad Boy Mike’s 2nd Chance Project – Do The Work is a Facebook group – join this group. This platform will be what the actual project runs on, once approval is granted by the institution. It’s also used to bring awareness to the effort being made and gather support for implementation. Thanks Mom!

Any notifications like this will always be posted to each address. I will continue to put in the work to make these Bad Boy Mike’s platforms the best I possibly can from inside these walls for you to read, support, and engage in. Thanks for the input and keep the comments coming!

It was my concept for Bad Boy Mike's Blog so that those with little or no public voice or audience could Author public writings that the world could have access to. I also needed a platform for expressing my journey through 12+ years in the Ohio prison system. That has led to my development of a 2nd Chance Program for prisoners to "Do The Work" to actually and realistically prepare and change their lives for success in life after walls. It has become my passion. Many volunteers are behind the scenes helping with this project. Your support would be greatly appreciated if you too would like to help.
