It’s Another Year… Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day

To my Mom:

You truly are a special Mom. You’ve never given up on me. Even when I did “bad things” you still believed in me. You always separated the behavior, action, or decision from who I was as a person. Your belief in me became contagious and you’ve infected my outlook over the years as well. I believe in myself.

I’m definitely not a “Mom” and I’ve made the greatest mistake a “Dad” could ever make (not being physically present in my kid’s lives), but I do know that one of the most important goals every parent hopes to achieve is building up their children to believe in themselves.

You’ve absolutely achieved that one Mom. More important, you’ve help me separate the things I’ve done from the person I am. That space or gap from what I did and who I am today, has become the doorway that’s opening up to my future. A future full of hope, possibilities, and hard work.

Nothing worthwhile ever comes easy; nor should it. You’ve always said: “Haste makes waste.” I certainly know about hurrying up to wait or getting nowhere fast, but I’ve learned this from you: “Slow and steady wins the race.”

Life is not a race, I just want to cross the finish line in one piece and be ready to keep doing laps. I believe I can and I will, especially with a Mom like you in my pit crew.

I love you Mom. I could never truly write anything that represents who you are and what you mean to me. All I can ever do is give you my heartfelt appreciation through words and actions. I’m happy they’re both going in the same direction today.

We’ve seen that “different direction” race before and there was definitely no “one piece” or “finish line” involved in that crash ending.

Wow spells Mom upside down and I can’t believe how far we’ve come. Well, actually I can believe it because you’re my Mom.

Wow!

I love you,

Mike

P.S.

To all Moms…

You’re under appreciated and often taken for granted. I’m sorry about that fact. God knows I’m guilty of both in my past.

If your children are running the race of life at full throttle and in multiple directions, there will definitely be a crash at some point. All you can hope for is that the pieces can be fit back together and you’ll get your kids back on track.

If you’re fortunate enough to achieve that after the crash, your kids will need you more than ever. Just because they don’t always listen, doesn’t mean they don’t hear you. You are loved and appreciated.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you Moms out there.

It was my concept for Bad Boy Mike's Blog so that those with little or no public voice or audience could Author public writings that the world could have access to. I also needed a platform for expressing my journey through 12+ years in the Ohio prison system. That has led to my development of a 2nd Chance Program for prisoners to "Do The Work" to actually and realistically prepare and change their lives for success in life after walls. It has become my passion. Many volunteers are behind the scenes helping with this project. Your support would be greatly appreciated if you too would like to help.

  1. Thank you son❤️. Even with all that has gone on, you have managed to make the most of your situation…. You have learned so much about yourself. You never fail to share, and show appreciation for all you receive. You don’t take anything for granted. Those are all good qualities. I love what you said about our relationship and how you see me. I try to be the mom you need.
I love you always and forever, Mom xo
