The Prequel

Prequel to what you ask?  That’s a great question.  I’m already rethinking the title of this.  Maybe “The Excuse” would be a bit more of a realistic title, but—there’s that famous word that prepositions itself right before the delivery of any excuse, but—writing this prequel serves a purpose.  It’s an explanation of sorts and helps solve a problem I have.  Plus, I refuse to excuse.

So, “The Prequel” it is.

I’ll present my problem as an excuse.  Then, I’ll explain why this writing is the best action to take in solving my self-inflicted problem that’s not my fault.

Wow, that almost makes sense.  For now anyway.  It’s kind of like a sticky pasta noodle stuck to the wall, so we’re going to roll with that before it falls off.

Problem

Not posting anything to my blog or social media platforms for quite some time now.

Reasons/Possible Excuses

The #1 reason/excuse I’ve been using all of this time is that all of my writing efforts have been directed towards writing an article called The Facts of Time.  I started it in November of 2022.  It’s about time management and excuses.  Go figure!

That’s the most likely reason for me not posting much because it involves time management.  As you’ll read, that topic just might present some challenges for me.

Also, I’ve been facing a mental, creative, and logistical block for a few months now.  There’s absolutely a synergistic alignment that needs to be present in order for written work and creativity to come together to produce a product that’s worthy of a reader taking their time to indulge themselves into what’s written.

God, I hope I’ve accomplished that.  Especially after all these months of hard work, time simulations, the internal back and forth concerning editing, and having to retype everything I’ve previously written into a screen the size of a fork—handle excluded.

The 2nd reason/excuse is the old electronic email system that the prison had used was converted to a new system that’s totally overwhelmed me.  I’ll spare you the details.

Just know I’m being forced (that type of statement surely supports any excuse and makes it more believable or increases the likelihood of my following statement being accepted, I hope) to adapt to a system of writing that’s as difficult as pinning down a greased-up pig onto your BBQ.

As I’m completing the writing I’ve been working on all year long, that transition has been fully made.  It started in April of this year and was completed in June.  The old electronic email system that I used to post my work previously, no longer exists.

Simply put, I haven’t taken advantage of the time I’ve had available these past months to adapt to & overcome the challenges I’m facing in sharing my work using the new system.  That’s prior to this moment in time of course and truly, the timing hasn’t felt right either.

Okay, maybe the truth is a combination of all the above.  The only important factor is the result.  Why, truly is irrelevant.  The fact here is that you reading these words right now proves I no longer have a problem, period!

Solution

Posting this prequel prior to the posting of The Facts of Time book, article, or whatever you want to call it, basically explains the problem I’ve had. It shares the solution I’m implementing in order to adapt to and overcome the logistical challenges the new electronic email system has presented me.

On top of that, I’ve bought into all of my other excuses for way too long now.  I’m done procrastinating.

Whatever excuses/problems I’ve concocted in order to not post my work, coupled with the fact that my time management skills are as bipolar as my mental health diagnosis, is one of the primary reasons why I’ve undertaken this entire project in the first place.  I needed to solve my time management issues before I’m released from prison—if I want the future I’ve been working so hard to lay the foundation for.

In my adaptation to this new system, I’ve decided to break down my writing into chapters and post it accordingly.

There’s always a positive in change and I’m excited to do something new.  It gives me an opportunity to further develop what I’ve already written as well.  That’s another reason why I’ve decided to post The Facts of Time in chapters or segments if you will.

I’ve needed to post less, more often for a long time now anyway.  That is the point of a blog, right?

I’m really not a traditional blogger by definition.  I’m just openly sharing my self-rehabilitation efforts.  I don’t post often enough to even qualify for that true definition.  Also, I don’t post the particulars about everyday prison life and quite frankly, I have zero intention of ever sharing the details of these experiences with you.  It’s just not appropriate on so many different levels.

I will share how certain experiences have helped mold the vision I have for all of my Bad Boy Mike’s future ventures, but that will be done on my podcast upon my release.  Until then, if any day-to-day specific details are relevant to anything I post, I’ll share those particulars if appropriate.

Timing truly is everything and it just feels like the right time to adapt to this transition and get back to sharing the work I’ve been doing.

I felt this prequel was necessary because I’ve never broken down any of my writings into chapters or segments before.  I wanted to include you, the reader, and explain what to expect and why.

I hope you’ll follow along and continue to read as I make this transition.
