Transcendental Self

What is Mike in prison for? Mike owns what he has done. Mike is in prison for 2 counts of felonious assault. Those counts originate from separate incidents. One stems from a domestic situation. His actions in dealing with a toxic relationship were far less than acceptable. The second one involved an altercation with another inmate while he was being held in the jail. His other convictions include theft, possession of drugs, weapons under disability and conveyance of contraband into a correctional facility.

When he began serving his 14 years, 9 months Mike focused on negative outlets to pass time. After a while, he saw clearly that focus wouldn’t prepare him for a better life, but would only keep him imprisoned. He created his Bad Boy Mike’s 2nd Chance Project for prisoners to focus his actions in a direction that would support his success in the real world. A way to begin taking his freedom back.

Mike’s decisions in life, prior to his incarceration, cornered him into dealing with a set of challenges he had no idea how to face. No understanding of how to even begin. He was hopeless, desperate and destructive. Mike lacked the knowledge to deal with his mental health condition. He had no understanding of the problems that condition even presented.

Mike attempted to take his own life in March of 2011, roughly a year prior to his incarceration. The 2 years before prison were the most difficult years Mike lived. I’m happy he has gone through this experience. I like who Mike has become. I’m happy he’s found direction and meaning in his life. I don’t think this would have been possible without the Bad Boy Mike’s 2nd Chance Project he created, period!

It was my concept for Bad Boy Mike's Blog so that those with little or no public voice or audience could Author public writings that the world could have access to. I also needed a platform for expressing my journey through 12+ years in the Ohio prison system. That has led to my development of a 2nd Chance Program for prisoners to "Do The Work" to actually and realistically prepare and change their lives for success in life after walls. It has become my passion. Many volunteers are behind the scenes helping with this project. Your support would be greatly appreciated if you too would like to help.
